Oh, heck, 10/29/77 blows the doors off 5/8/77, but then again, I believe it bloors the doors off any Dead show ever performed (yes, i admit i'm guilty of over-hype on my favorite Dead show of all time), but it does answer the question.

BTW, I love good ol' 5/8/77...it's a wonderful show. But i also think the following night 5/9/77 in Buffalo is a better show, and I'd also throw in 5/25/77, the Mosque as about equal or slightly better depending on my mood, and 11/4/77 at Colgate is creeping up to challenge 5/8 in the rotation.

The Buffalo pick is right on, and I too think 5-8 is way overblown.

Being at he Colgate show 11-4-77, I still think it is one of the tops for '77 (sorry I'm a bit biased but it was damn fun!).

No question other era's are up there, '73 (PNC Vancouver!), 71 and 70 still have completely different and unique characteristics which NEVER were recreated in later years. And that is why the Dead's recorded legacy is so cool!
